Compression

In my mind, the worst part of the process this year is the compression. I don’t mind the front-loading so much. There’s nothing wrong with starting to select a president very early. Nor do I mind the traditional role of Iowa and New Hampshire so much. Both states have their failings, but any alternative is going to have its imperfections too. But having four days between primaries is insane. It leaves voters absolutely no time to pause and take stock between contests. I think there should at least be 10 days between primaries. At least there’s that kind of gap between South Carolina and Florida
