Congratulations Ed Whelan!

Our friend Ed Whelan has now been at the Ethics and Public Policy Center for 20 years. He was president of EPPC from 2004 until 2021 and is now a distinguished fellow. He’s obviously been a long-time contributor to NR, and started his legal blog, Bench Memos, back in 2005. Besides being grateful for all his work for NR, I can’t overstate how personally indebted I am to Ed. If I need to know what to think about any legal decision, political dispute related to the courts, or question of legal interpretation, very often my first call is to Ed at any time of the day or on weekends. His views are invariably well-informed, acute, and precise. Also, when we are formulating NR’s official view on legal matters, we often ask ourselves, “What does Ed think?” He is a person of the highest character, blessed with a lovely wife and beautiful family. His contributions to the cause of originalism and preserving the Constitution have been immeasurable. Thanks so much, Ed. All we ask is 20 years more!
