Conn. GOP Candidate Recommends State as Escape from de Blasio

The Bill de Blasio era hasn’t even started yet in New York, but one potential Republican gubernatorial candidate in neighboring Connecticut is welcoming fleeing Big Apple residents. Tom Foley, who ran for governor in 2010, released an ad urging New Yorkers to give the Nutmeg State a second look as a haven if it were to elect a Republican next year.

“With your new mayor, I know many of you are thinking of leaving,” Foley says to New Yorkers looking to leave. “Enjoy one more year in your city, and then come join us in Connecticut under new leadership heading in a better direction.”

The ad was released by the Foley 2014 Exploratory Committee. In 2010, Foley lost to Democrat Dan Malloy by 0.6 percentage points.
