Conservatives to Gov. McAuliffe: Don’t Execute Ivan Teleguz

A letter from 25 conservatives and libertarians asks Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe to call a halt to the pending execution of Ivan Teleguz on the ground that “there are real doubts about Teleguz’s guilt.”

Not being familiar with the details of the case, I’ll just say, first, that I don’t believe that governments in the U.S. should be executing even people who are guilty of murder–not when we have alternative means of keeping them from committing further crimes and, second, that serious doubts about someone’s guilt are obviously a weighty additional reason to refrain from killing him.
