Corker Stands by Claim that Rice Would Make Better DNC Chair than Secy of State

After his meeting this morning with Susan Rice, Tennessee senator Bob Corker stood by his statement yesterday to The Cable that “I think [Rice] would be an outstanding head of the [Democratic National Committee].” Corker went on to say that, while a secretary of state should be an independent thinker, Rice strikes him as somebody who is “always exactly parroting whatever it is the administration’s position is.”

Asked about those remarks earlier today, Corker said he discussed them with Rice during their meeting and that they “should not be received as a positive or a negative.”
