The Corner

The Corner, Bringing Good Cheer

It’s not just embarassing to hear the so-called “leader of the free world” talking like a 14-year old who’s been up in his room listening to “Imagine” for too long. I fear this presidency has the makings of global tragedy.

I think we really should revise and extend our thinking about the “two Americas.” I don’t care if the New York Times oped page one Sunday plays hard to get with Obama or not. There are Americans I run into every day who still hate George W. Bush, still make Cheney jokes (not just Stephen Colbert), and think that Obama’s world tour and Michelle’s soft-sweater look are really the hope and change we need. (Yes, I do live in the Northeast Corridor, but I couldn’t help but notice a good number of Obama bumper stickers still around Columbus, Ohio when I was there a week ago.) I pray it won’t take Mark’s fear to wake people up. Joe Lieberman seems to have moved out of his apologizing-for-campaigning-for-the-other-guy mode.
