The Corner

Senator Barack Obama’s office was good enough to call a mistake to my attention that I am belatedly correcting.  The senator did win approval for his amendment to the Senate immigration bill that would set a federal wage for guestworkers, but it would not be an extension of Davis Bacon wage rates as I erroneously wrote here .  The senator’s amendment would extend a Bureau of Labor Standards based wage (which is lower than Davis Bacon wages) or another wage determined by the Labor Department to guestworkers.  My apologies and thanks to the senator’s friendly press office.
