Senator Barack Obama’s office was good enough to call a mistake to my attention that I am belatedly correcting. The senator did win approval for his amendment to the Senate immigration bill that would set a federal wage for guestworkers, but it would not be an extension of Davis Bacon wage rates as I erroneously wrote here . The senator’s amendment would extend a Bureau of Labor Standards based wage (which is lower than Davis Bacon wages) or another wage determined by the Labor Department to guestworkers.
