Out in California, Elizabeth Heng’s formidable challenger campaign against incumbent Democratic congressman Jim Costa is running this biting and funny ad tying the six-term Central Valley Democrat to Nancy Pelosi. Have a watch:
Also check out Heng’s Twitter feed and its daily #FailingForty litany against Costa’s alleged accomplishments in four decades of state and federal office-holding:
Jim Costa claims he's a champion for water, but NONE of the legislation to expand water storage was actually introduced by Costa, and the state of our water infrastructure is worse than EVER. #FailingForty #CostaLaVista

Heng gained national attention earlier this year for nearly upsetting Costa in the state’s “open” primaries — and she gained even more attention when her powerful video explaining her life story was blocked by Facebook because it included graphic images (of Pol Pot’s genocidal Cambodia, from which her parents escaped). The ban was lifted after Rush Limbaugh and others attacked the censorship.
As the race rounds the home stretch, Costa is said to have much money on hand (even though Heng outraised him in the last quarter) and leads in polls (none too recent). Heng’s campaign claims the candidate is within the margin of error, but even so, she is a long shot. But also even so — this race is still viable and could prove to be the House upset of Election Night.
