According to the Washington Post, a lone juror is responsible for the failure to impose the death penalty of Zacarias Moussaoui — but that lone juror remained anonymous through days of jury deliberations, would not argue the point with any of his or her fellow jurors, and only kept voting no without saying why or even revealing his or her identity to the 11 other jurors. Imagine having, on the one hand, such a stubborn sense of rectitude and on the other, having absolutely no courage to reveal the reason for your conduct to your fellow jurors. You can only feel sorry for the other 11 jurors, who must have felt like they were in some kind of a horror funhouse.
