TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Charlie Crist says he’s too busy doing his job to worry about his political future.
The first-term governor appeared to waffle Wednesday on an earlier decision that he would keep running for the U.S. Senate as a Republican.
Asked about a story in The Wall Street Journal quoting Crist’s campaign manager that the governor would qualify for the Senate race, but wouldn’t say if it would be as a Republican. Crist responded that he was “consumed” with pressing legislative issues and not thinking about the Senate contest.
Crist’s Senate campaign said last week the governor had no intention of running as an independent. Crist, however, didn’t want to talk about that statement Wednesday or his current political intentions.
