Crist Runs as Marco Rubio

Tom Price, the head of the conservative Republican Study Committee in the House, seems to see a difference between the two running for the Republican nomination for Senate in Florida. Otherwise, the medical doctor from Georgia probably wouldn’t have bothered to endorse Rubio today. From his statement:

“If there weren’t enough reasons to support Marco Rubio, the health care debate should illuminate for Republicans the importance of electing him to the Senate.  As Democrats try to ram through ObamaCare this week, Marco has not flinched in rightly calling for this plan to be scrapped.  I have full confidence Marco will stand with Republicans against big government disasters like the stimulus and ObamaCare.  The last thing we need in the Senate is someone who will abandon our Party and undercut our efforts to limit government and take care of taxpayer dollars.

“I proudly endorse Marco Rubio for the United States Senate and look forward to working with him in Washington.  He’s proven he will stand up to liberal, big government agendas and offer a refreshing, idea-driven brand of leadership that embodies the best things our Republican Party has to offer.”

Welcoming Price’s endorsement, Rubio said, “Tom Price’s leadership on behalf of America’s patients, taxpayers and working families is inspiring, and I am proud to have his support.  As he leads the charge against the Democrats’ government takeover of health care, Tom Price has my full support in scrapping this policy.  I look forward to working with Congressman Price to advance conservative principles and policies that promote commonsense, conservative reform.”
