Cruz Won’t Say Whether He Would Vote for McConnell

Yesterday in Beaumont, Texas, Senator Ted Cruz gave a wide-ranging speech on his American Energy Renaissance Act. And afterward, he spoke with NRO about his relationships on the Hill, his frustration with how Senate Republican Leadership handled the debt-ceiling hike, and other topics.

At one point, I asked him if he would vote for Senator Mitch McConnell to be minority (or, potentially, majority) leader next Congress.

After a pause, he said this: “I’m going to leave that election and every other incumbent Republican election to the voters of their respective states.”

More from that interview in a piece coming out shortly.
