From a reader in response to my post last night about Andy’s book hitting 9 on Amazon:
Jonah–
I already passed this story along to Andy, but thought you’d get a kick out of it too: I purchased TGJ the day it debuted, at the Border’s in Des Moines that refused to stock LF even after it started topping the NYT bestseller list. Their in-store computer said they had copies on hand, but they weren’t in the section the computer suggested, nor in the “New and Noteworthy” display, nor anywhere else I could find one. I finally insisted that a clerk check the back room and, lo and behold, he emerged with the ONLY copy they had in stock. Now, either the a**hole store manager only ordered one copy, or a bunch of us McCarthyites managed to sell out the store’s initial order on Day One before they could even get it shelved! Either way, I felt like I struck a blow for the counter-revolution…
