Daniel Radcliffe, of Harry Potter fame, hosted a group discussion with young people for the Trevor Project, an LGBT youth organization.

The young participants share the usual trans talking points — they always knew they were trans, etc. — while Radcliffe nods along, furiously. At one point, a young man tells Radcliffe that one week after identifying as a woman, he began taking hormones. Radcliffe responds: “Wow, that’s amazing.”

Another male participant, who appears to be prepubescent, tells Radcliffe that it is possible for an 11-year-old to transition. Radcliffe responds that “there are also people who do have a slightly condescending but well-meaning attitude of like, ‘Well, people are young and that is a huge decision,’” adding that he’d love to hear from the group “about, like, why we can trust kids to tell us who they are.”

A young woman who appears to be under the influence of cross-sex hormones discusses the need for “showcasing gender euphoria.” She says: “I see a lot of videos of guys taping for the first time. And I remember the first time I ever put a binder on and like, I was, like, in tears. Because seeing yourself as yourself for the first time is such a transformative experience.”

At the normalization of self-harm, Radcliffe nods along.
