Daniels Won’t Reconsider

Indiana governor Mitch Daniels told reporters he won’t reconsider his decision not to run for president, throwing a bit more cold water on the “late entrant” scenario floated by unnamed “top Republicans” in recent days:

Gov. Mitch Daniels says he is receiving more calls urging him to get into the race for president, but will not change his mind.

[. . .]

Daniels, speaking to reporters this morning, said he was “aware of the noise” but will not rethink his decision.

“I never wanted to run, never planned to run,” Daniels said.

As Brian Bolduc just quipped here at NRHQ, this will undoubtedly raise speculation over whether Christie or Ryan will reconsider, since neither man has confirmed that he will not do so.
