Darn That Global Warming!

Tornadoes are a threatened species:

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service office in Hastings are feeling pretty lucky this year. Here’s why: The 30-county area they serve in central Nebraska and north-central Kansas hasn’t had a confirmed tornado for the first six months of this year. And that hasn’t happened since 1950.

Note: I don’t think this is really global warming related — or at least I have no idea if it is — but since every piece of bad weather news is blamed on global warming, why not give it credit for good news too?

Update: From a reader:

Mr. Goldberg:

I saw that story about the lack of a recorded tornado in Kansas or Nebraska

for the first half of this year.  I’m not sure if it means anything other

than a slight geographical shift.  Missouri got rocked by tornadoes pretty

hard this spring on more than one occasion.

Me: Okay, so Missourians should hate global warming but Nebraskans should love it!
