Davis’s Bacon & Gilmore’s Grade

Rep. Tom Davis and former governor Jim Gilmore both appear interested in running for the Senate seat that John Warner is leaving. Conservative and libertarian groups don’t appear overly impressed with either guy:

Davis won CAGW’s “Porker of the Month” award last year and performs below average for a Republican on the National Taxpayer Union’s congressional ratings.

The Cato Institute’s fiscal policy report card on governors in 2000 gave Jim Gilmore a grade of C.
