D.C. Mayor Suggests Sequester Played Role in Navy Yard Shooting

Washington, D.C., mayor Vincent Gray speculated that recent sequester cuts may have played a part in yesterday’s Navy Yard shooting that resulted in the deaths of eleven victims and the shooter.

“As I look at sequestration, which is about saving money in the federal government being spent, have we somehow skimped on what would be available for projects like this and put people at risk?” Gray said on CNN on Tuesday morning. “Twelve people have paid the ultimate price for whatever we’ve done to have this man on base.”
