De Blasio Fumbles Groundhog

Their first Groundhog Day didn’t go quite as planned for Mayor Bill de Blasio and Staten Island Chuck. During the annual event on Sunday, de Blasio dropped the furry companion as he tried to squirm away.

“Staten Island Chuck was very rowdy this morning, I’d like to stay,” de Blasio said afterwards. “I got a hand on him, he swerved out of the way. Very impressive. But once he calmed down, I found him to be a very friendly and very appealing young animal.”

After all the commotion, Chuck ended up seeing his shadow, thus auguring six more weeks of winter.
