De Blasio’s House Worth $1.4 Million

New York’s mayor Bill de Blasio talks a lot about inequality. He also owns a house worth $1.4 million.

A New York Post report found that the value of Mayor de Blasio’s Park Slope home doubled during the last eight years under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, increasing in value from just shy of $700,000 in 2006–07 to $1.4 million in a 2014–15 assessment.

During his mayoral campaign, de Blasio spoke in behalf for the poor and downtrodden against the “inequality crisis” plaguing New York City. “We are called to put an end to economic and social inequalities that threaten to unravel the city we love,” de Blasio said in his inauguration speech on January 1. “[Inequality is] a quiet crisis, but one no less pernicious than those that have come before.”
