You are quite right, John, DeLay’s comments did not read like sarcasm. What’s more, the sort of spending he has signed off on over the past few years gives us absolutely no reason to think that he was being sarcastic.

Anyway, misunderstanding or not, he’s now been given some helpful lists of fat to cut by the folks at Heritage and elsewhere, and he’s the majority leader. The opportunity is obvious.

Go for it, Congressman.
