This Dem Convention Brought to You By . . .

Throwing a convention isn’t cheap: The Democrats are trying to raise $36.6 million to fund their shindig in Charlotte, N.C., this September. President Obama’s decision to not permit any corporate donors is making the fundraisers’ task especially difficult this cycle. The solution? While they won’t sully their reputations by taking any money from potentially greedy capitalist companies, Democrats are pushing hard on the unions — yes, those very non-political and non-self-interested entities — to make up the difference, and donate generously, reports Bloomberg. Because, as we all know, it’s only companies, not unions, that sometimes request political favors.
