DeMint Endorses Rand Paul

From the AP:

U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint is at odds with Kentucky’s Sen. Mitch McConnell over who should be the GOP nominee for U.S. Senate in Kentucky.

DeMint, a South Carolina Republican, endorsed political outsider Rand Paul on Wednesday, a day after Minority Floor Leader McConnell threw his support behind establishment candidate Trey Grayson.

DeMint, chairman of the Senate Conservatives Fund political action committee, called Paul “a true conservative who will stand up to the Washington establishment.”

Paul and Grayson are among five Republicans seeking to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning, the 78-year-old sports icon who opted not to seek a third term. The winner will face one of five Democratic candidates, including Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo and Attorney General Jack Conway.
