Democracy Backsliding in Turkey

With pressure for democratization and good governance off the table under the Obama administration, there has been some serious backsliding in Turkey, where Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, host of Obama’s first presidential visit to a majority-Muslim country, has renewed moves to close down Turkey’s remaining independent media.
