Democratic Progress on Education

Mickey Kaus has written about the apparently increasing openness of Democrats to educational reform that isn’t union-approved. Dan Lips of the Heritage Foundation writes in to confirm the trend. Jindal in June, was sponsored by Democrats. This morning, Colorado state senator Chris Romer (son of former governor and DNC chairman Roy Romer) told some NR reporters how he had sponsored a bill allowing schools to opt out of their districts’ collective-bargaining agreements–a bill that other Democratic legislators supported and that Democratic governor Bill Ritter signed.
