How fast things are moving in the Democratic party! In the space of five years, the conventional wisdom in the party has gone from “defend Obamacare” to “add a public option” to “lower the eligibility age for Medicare” to “abolish private insurance completely, reduce medical reimbursement rates by 40 percent, and kick 150 million people off their plans while increasing taxes by 32 trillion dollars.” Quite how this will play with the party’s new cache of middle-class, suburban voters will be interesting to learn. It’s a good time to be a political adviser for Howard Schultz.
