Depens on What the Meaning of What ‘High Stakes’ is…

Obama is saying he was brave to oppose the war because he opposed it during a “high stakes” senate campaign. What, pray tell, was “high stakes” about his Senate campaign? Does anyone else who’s name isn’t “Alan Keyes” think that’s the case?

UPDATE: Okay, I’ll accept that the Dem primary for Obama’s senate run was a bit more “high stakes” because Blair Hull was initially well-funded but on balance, I don’t think the political climate was such that it was surprising or courageous for a Democrat to come out against the war even in 2002 or 2003. Bottom line is that Obama won the primary by 29% and the general by 43% respectively.
