Government is so big that, if states are losing jobs and the economy is cooling, the Republicans think the answer is a government training program, targeted government “investments,” etc. How about a Republican who says: We need to reduce the size and role of the government in the economy.
Why is it the federal government’s job to stimulate the economy? I’m not an economist but wasn’t there a time when that would be our first question?
