Detroit City Councilwoman Demands Gov’t ‘Bacon’ in Return for Supporting Obama

Detroit City Councilwoman Joann Watson said the city of Detroit’s overwhelming support for President Obama implied a “quid pro quo” that now requires Washington to deliver some “bacon” in the form of a bailout. Watson pointed to the example of former Detroit mayor Coleman Young, who, she said “went to Washington, D.C.” after the election of Jimmy Carter and “came back home with some bacon.” “That’s what you do,” Watson said, “that’s what you do.”
