Dewhurst Calls for Obama’s Impeachment

Texas lieutenant governor David Dewhurst, who Ted Cruz defeated last year in the Republican Senate primary, recently called for the impeachment of President Obama. The Texas Tribune reports that Dewhurst, who is running for reelection in a tough primary, made the comment at a Tarrant County Tea Party candidate forum.

Spokesman Travis Considine made this statement, per the Texas Tribune:

He feels very strongly about the tragedy in Benghazi and has said that Congress should consider impeaching the President over the tragedy. David Dewhurst also believes that President Obama should be held accountable for Washington’s failure to secure the border and the gross overreach of the federal government under Obamacare.

Dewhurst faces three primary challengers, and insiders expect a run-off. One Austin Republican insider tells National Review Online, “He’s trying to make sure that nobody gets around to his right flank, and the way he’s doing it is very clumsy.”
