Charlie, unless I’m misreading that New York Daily News cover story, it looks like the Left is now arguing that we have 700,000 potential terrorists in the United States. So much for the argument that the jihadist threat is overblown. Bring on the crackdown!
But of course everybody — including the editors of the Daily News – knows that our watch list is both hopelessly over-inclusive (Remember when the Weekly Standard’s Stephen F. Hayes ended up on the list?) and dangerously under-inclusive (no one thinks we’re tracking every potential terrorist.) In fact, it stands as a monument to bureaucratic incompetence. The Daily News story was nothing but a cheap and malicious stunt.
