Also, did you notice in that column how Dionne repeatedly stated as a fact that conservatives were “enraged” and made “angry” by Warren agreeing to give the invocation and that the choice has “caused so much consternation on the right.” Huh? Every conservative website and blog that I’ve visited has had conservative writers and spokesmen only completely delighted that Wonder Boy chose such a reasonable person to give the prayer at the inaugural. After all, he could have done much worse, like picking his own pastor and mentor for the last 20 years!
It’s funny you mention it. I’ve heard several (liberal) pundits say much the same thing now, and I had no idea what they were talking about. I’ve been busy with some other stuff, so I haven’t followed the Warren debate too closely, but I assumed I missed some griping. And maybe I have. But to date, I haven’t gotten a single angry email from a reader about this, and usually when conservatives are enraged by something, somebody emails me about it.
