Is it me, or does EJ Dionne write a column wistfully hoping for a new New Deal every few months? I’m not saying there’s no merit to today’s column — we may indeed need some tougher new regulations — but the End of Capitalism schtick smacks of so much wishful thinking. And the general presumption that freer markets and free trade have been something to bemoan as America and the world have gotten fantastically wealthier as a result, strikes me as finding a silver cloud and obsessing on the dark lining.
