Ditch The Holocaust Memorial

So say advisors to British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Why do they want to scrap Holocaust Memorial Day? Because “it is regarded as offensive to Muslims.”

This is the recommendation of “committees appointed by Blair to tackle extremism.”

Upon consideration, I’m not convinced most Muslims are offended by Holocaust memorials. But the extremists are – for example the extremists Blair evidently appointed to advise him on extremism. Good job, Tony.

Among those extremists is Sir Iqbal Sacranie, secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, who said: “Muslims feel hurt and excluded that their lives are not equally valuable to those lives lost in the Holocaust time.”

He might have mentioned that Holocaust Memorials could also hurt the feelings of Nazis. We wouldn’t want to do that, now would we?
