Personally, I think Obama’s apology for the Special Olympics joke is enough. It was a dumb thing for the president to say, but hardly a scandal. Still, you have to wonder how Don Imus feels. What he said was surely worse, but his apologies were far more drawn out and abject. And yet Obama didn’t care a bit and joined the chorus calling for Imus’s head. I have no sympathy for Imus, but the maganimity of the press in this case must rankle.
