That was a strong statement from President Trump. Obviously, it would have been much better on Saturday, and he got pushed into coming back to this by external and internal pressure. But saying this is much better than the alternative and now gives Republican officeholders and White House staff something to brandish and hold on to as the fall-out from Charlottesville continues.
