Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations Dep’t.

So apparently in his remarks on Tuesday night, Donald Trump referred to the third-place finisher as “Senator Cruz,” not, as he usually does, “Lyin’ Ted.” On MSNBC, Rachel Maddow was talking about this as a remarkable shift toward a more dignified, presidential approach on Trump’s part. Yes, Prince Hal hath indeed forsaken Falstaff, and hath shown himself worthy of the high dignity that his nation is thrusting upon him.

(I kid, I kid. Good for Trump for moving away from that sort of rhetoric. Here’s hoping this is part of a sustained shift on his part. People love that kind of trash talk, sure; but America also insists that a potential president be capable of greater seriousness and dignity.)
