Don’t Blame Me, I Voted For…

Another interesting item in the Post poll: the number of people who say they wanted Clinton to win the Democratic primaries has actually increased since the primaries ended. In mid-June, when the Post asked, “Who did you want to see win the Democratic nomination…Clinton or Obama?” 38 percent of registered voters said Clinton, while 55 percent said Obama.

In mid-July, when the paper asked the same question, 44 percent of registered voters said Clinton, while 52 percent said Obama.  In the new poll, 42 percent of registered voters say Clinton, while Obama is at 55 percent.

I suppose this could be read in different ways, but none that are particularly favorable for Obama.  It seems support for Clinton has built retrospectively, even as Obama launched his general-election campaign.
