I’m sure VDH will correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t recognize that quote about warriors and scholars from Thucydides, although it is a long time since I last read him.
This thread in the Volokh Conspiracy attributes it to a biographer of Sir Charles Napier, and it certainly sounds like something Napier would have come up with.
