Timothy Garton Ash offers his prediction of what the Iranians might do if we attacked. It’s scary, but then again how could it not be? It’s a doomsday scenario. If the worst the Iranians could do in response to a military strike would be to unleash puppies and nerf bats, Iran’s nuclear facilities would already be in smoldering ruins. Such arguments are always easy for people convinced of a course of action. And, as Noam Scheiber rightly points out, a battle of worst case scenarios would ultimately work in favor of striking Iran. I think Ash’s warning should be taken very seriously, but I find Reuel Marc Gerecht ’s skepticism fairly persuasive.
