The Corner

Dorothy McCartney R.I.P.

Dorothy, who died yesterday after a struggle with cancer, was one of the people the late Bill Buckley relied upon the most. In her research work, she was tireless in her effort to make WFB’s — and NR’s — efforts conform to the facts. Much more important, she was a kind, sweet, and lovely woman whose deep religious faith led her to genuinely love her neighbor. I ask her to pray for us, and send her off with some lovely music from the French composer Alain Romans. (The piece is titled “Quel Temps Fait-il à Paris” — “What’s the Weather in Paris?”.) Good night, Dorothy; may choirs of angels sing thee to thy rest.
