The Corner

How right Jack Fowler was to praise her striking good looks. Dorothy had extraordinary coloring — Renoir would have loved her.

But look past her looks, and — even harder to do — her sweetness. There was a quick and deadly judge there, who could express her verdicts with considerable tartness. (McCartney is after all an Irish name.) She had everyone’s number, and some people might be surprised to know what numbers she assigned them. I am sure, Dorothy being Dorothy, that she prayed for the betterment of those who needed it. Her Christian friends believe she is doing so now. I will continue to pray for her.
