The man who crashed his drone on the White House grounds Monday has confessed to a DUI — droning under the influence.
After a recreational remote-controlled, two-foot-wide quadcopter was discovered on the grounds of the White House Monday, the operator turned himself in to the Secret Service and cooperated with investigators.
He’d been drinking at his nearby apartment when he lost track of the drone early Monday morning, he said, and just went to bed. When he woke up, he learned the drone, which actually belonged to a friend, had landed at the White House.

After the incident, the Obama administration has renewed efforts to encourage the Federal Aviation Administration to regulate unmanned aircraft, and is reportedly considering a “Drone Dome” defense system for the White House.
