Drone Flies Through Congressional Hearing

The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology was treated to a rather unusual demonstration during a Wednesday hearing: A small drone flew around the room.

Colin Guinn, an executive with 3D Robotics, released the unmanned aerial vehicle during a hearing on the subject of drone development, much to the amazement of the committee’s chairman, Representative Lamar Smith (R., Texas).

“I was hoping you’d fly it around the whole room — not just one location,” Smith said after the drone landed.

“You said no haircuts!” Guinn joked back. “We could have arranged that.” A disappointed Smith admitted he set those parameters before the hearing.
