The New York Times, which has decided to stake its Pulitzer hopes on an increasingly ludicrous series on class in America, hit rock-bottom today with an essay by Charles McGrath that might be suitable for an AP English paper by an 11th grader: “In Fiction, a Long History of Fixation on the Social Gap.”

Nooooooo. You think?
