Lisa, yes, I saw what the police were proposing, which is why I was careful to write that this was only to be permitted in one park for now. I was also careful to say that it “didn’t seem like the greatest of ideas.” Call that English understatement.

For English overstatement and an English park, I’d recommend (but better not link to) the Earl Rochester’s somewhat, uh, explicit description of a “ramble” through the “all-sin-sheltering grove” that was St. James Park in the later part of the 17th century.
