Overwhelmingly, you say I’m wrong to say a “not guilty …” verdict is a bad thing. Here’s another:

I agree with your recent emailer completely with regard to the Andrea Yates verdict. I was disappointed in your treatment of the issue the first time around and since you haven’t changed your opinion this time, I’m disappointed again. Surely you can understand the difference between a murder committed intentionally by a rational being and one (or five) committed by someone who has lost the ability to distinguish right from wrong. The tragedy of the loss of five beautiful children is not mitigated by the fact of their mother’s psychosis but our treatment of her ought to be.
