Lots of email about Josh Marshall’s inability to find a single false note in Edwards. This one’s got feeling:
I too was brought up short by this sentence from Josh Marshall:
“But my basic impression was that Edwards didn’t strike a false note for the entire 90 minutes. And I say this having been critical of him in the past.”
The fact is, every single note Edwards struck was false…because he is a 24-carat phony.
How this wasn’t immediately obvious to at least 90% of television viewers last night escapes me. I can’t get over how smarmy and vain Edwards looked, particularly in the reaction shots while Cheney was talking. The way he puckered his lips and fluttered his eyelashes…his awful too-wide plastic smile…the constant search for the perfect upturned-chin angle from which to be half-looking at the Vice President…even the way he took a drink of water drove me crazy.
The man’s a phony from the top of the perfect hair on his head to the soles of the $1500 loafers on his feet. Hate. Him.
