Local officials are now saying that they should be able to get the recounting of ballots done there by 7 a.m. tomorrow. The ballot counting scanners at the polling stations were programmed incorrectly, with straight-ticket ballots being counted as a separate office and not being counted as votes for the candidates of that party. All ballots will be rescanned at the central polling location, which has a corrected program. But to re-scan more than 400,000 ballots, needless to say, is going to take a while.
